**NetApp is excited to announce the general availability of Instaclustr for Apache Kafka® and Apache Kafka® Connect 3.6.2 on the Instaclustr Managed Platform.**

[Kafka 3.6.2](https://downloads.apache.org/kafka/3.6.2/RELEASE_NOTES.html) is the latest patch release for Kafka 3.6. Compared to Kafka 3.6.1 it contains significant bug fixes and improvements related to migrating from Apache ZooKeeper™ to KRaft:

- [KAFKA-16007](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16007)—Speed up migrations for large clusters
- [KAFKA-16120](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16120)—Fix partition reassignment during ZooKeeper migration
- [KAFKA-16171](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16171)—Controller failover during ZooKeeper migration can prevent metadata updates to ZooKeeper brokers
- [KAFKA-16180](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16180)—Full metadata request sometimes fails during ZooKeeper migration
- [KAFKA-16216](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16216)—Reduce batch size for initial metadata load during ZooKeeper migration
- [KAFKA-16222](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16222)—Fixes a bug which sometimes caused entity names for client quotas to get malformed during migration.

In addition to the above, it also updates some packages and components to fix CVEs:

- [KAFKA-16322](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16322)—Fix CVE-2023-50572 by updating jline from 3.22.0 to 3.25.1
- [KAFKA-16347](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16347)—Fix multiple CVEs by upgrading ZooKeeper from [3.8.3](https://zookeeper.apache.org/doc/r3.8.3/releasenotes.html) to [3.8.4](https://zookeeper.apache.org/doc/r3.8.4/releasenotes.html).

With this new release, we will be reviewing and updating the lifecycle states for our older supported Kafka versions (as per our [lifecycle policy](https://www.instaclustr.com/support/documentation/useful-information/lifecycle-policy/)). To ensure you get the full benefit of our support and SLAs, please reach out to us and upgrade to a GA version. More details on all Kafka versions supported on our managed platform are available [here](https://www.instaclustr.com/support/documentation/useful-information/lifecycle-status-of-application-versions/#section-kafka-kafka).

We encourage you to try your preferred Kafka version in your non-production environments to confirm compatibility with your Kafka clients prior to deploying it in production. If you need any help spinning up a new Kafka cluster or upgrading existing managed Kafka clusters, please feel free to get in touch with us via our [support website](https://support.instaclustr.com/hc/en-us/requests/new).
