### AWS PrivateLink Connectivity Is Now Available with Instaclustr for Cadence®

Instaclustr is excited to announce the general availability of AWS PrivateLink for connecting to our managed Cadence® offering. Originally developed and open sourced by Uber, Cadence is a workflow engine that greatly simplifies the development of complex, long-running automated business processes at scale.

The solution is particularly suited for use in microservice-based architectures where multiple service calls must be coordinated over time to achieve a business outcome. Due to its unique capabilities, Cadence is rapidly gaining popularity with organizations of all sizes.

### What users can get with this release

With this release, customers using Instaclustr to provision and manage Cadence in AWS can benefit from a simpler alternative to using VPC peering and transit gateways. Without the use of AWS PrivateLink, most of our customers who need cross-VPC access would end up using [VPC peering](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/vpc/latest/peering/what-is-vpc-peering.html). PrivateLink has 2 major advantages over VPC peering for many use cases:

- unidirectional access providers a stronger access boundary between your application VPC and the managed cluster VPC, often helping to resolve compliance concerns; and
- there is no need to manage CIDR conflicts between the cluster VPC and the client VPC (and other connected VPCs) as the network behind the PrivateLink connection is entirely hidden.

Our AWS PrivateLink feature is offered as an Enterprise Feature. Our Enterprise Features and Enterprise Add-Ons attract an additional charge of 20% on top of the node cost, for the first such feature or add-on enabled by you. For Run In Instaclustr Account (RIIA) customers, this charge would cover the AWS PrivateLink costs and all other costs associated with us enabling PrivateLink. PrivateLink may result in additional AWS infrastructure charges. Information on charges from AWS is available [here](https://aws.amazon.com/privatelink/pricing/).

### More info

If you’d like to read more about AWS PrivateLink, [this page](https://aws.amazon.com/privatelink/) contains more information. In short, PrivateLink is defined by AWS as a feature which allows “private connectivity between VPCs and services hosted on AWS or on-premises, without exposing data to the internet”.

Enabling your new Instaclustr for Cadence cluster to have PrivateLink support can now be done with a single click. [This](https://www.instaclustr.com/support/documentation/cadence/getting-started-with-cadence/creating-a-privatelink-cadence-cluster/) page provides information on how to set up your managed Kafka cluster to support PrivateLink.

Please feel free to reach out to our Support team should you need more information.
