**NetApp is excited to announce the availability of the new PostgreSQL® minor releases 16.2, 15.6, and 14.11 on the Instaclustr Managed Platform.**

PostgreSQL is the world’s most advanced open source, object-relational database system. Instaclustr is a leading provider of open source data solutions, helping customers avoid the risks of vendor lock-in and unsupported software.

Our team at credativ has done some great work testing out performance improvements with high client counts and memory improvements. Read all about it [here](https://www.credativ.de/en/blog/postgresql-en/quick-benchmark-postgresql-2024q1-release-performance-improvements/).

Customers can treat the minor releases as a “drop-in” replacement—functionally compatible with the previous minor versions. In particular, the following fixes are important for our customers and PostgreSQL users in general:

- Fix memory leak when performing JIT inlining that could lead to out-of-memory conditions
- Several query planner fixes
- Align MERGE behaviour with UPDATE when updating a partition key column and skip firing AFTER UPDATE ROW trigger and other post-update actions
- Fix for locking during GIN index cleanup
    - In this case, if multiple processes tried to clean the same GIN index page, there was a chance of index corruption. If you believe you were affected by this issue, re–index your GIN indexes after installing this update.

Please note that if you use GIN indexes, you may need to re–index after updating to this release. Please see the [release notes](https://www.postgresql.org/docs/release/) for more information.

As with all PostgreSQL releases, there is more information available in the official [release notes](https://www.postgresql.org/docs/release/), as well as in the release notes for each version of the documentation.

Customers who want to experience a PostgreSQL cluster on the Instaclustr Managed Platform can sign up for a [free trial](https://console2.instaclustr.com/signup?_gl=1*1qg30lc*_ga*MTAzMTQ5NDA5Ni4xNzE0NTg3NDQ3*_ga_4NBQSJMP6D*MTcxNTc5MTM4NC4xMy4xLjE3MTU3OTEzOTYuNDguMC4w&_ga=2.84574608.808593655.1715637009-1031494096.1714587447&_gac=1.184538580.1715291206.Cj0KCQjwztOwBhD7ARIsAPDKnkBf_G5-jQsiw1WAyAFNjiw-0uxEouzmNFc3F-XqbBWQIV_DpaRlDXEaArIQEALw_wcB) and create a cluster with these new versions.

For customers who are already running PostgreSQL on the Instaclustr Managed Platform, our Technical Operations team will contact you shortly to schedule a time to upgrade your clusters to the latest minor version. If you would like to upgrade to a new major version or have any questions, please contact our [Support team](https://www.instaclustr.com/contact-us/).
