FSx for ONTAP brings enterprise-grade storage capabilities to the cloud, offering high throughput, low latency, and advanced data management features. By integrating it with Instaclustr’s Managed PostgreSQL platform, we aim not only giving you performance improvements you can use right now, but we’re also to lay the groundwork for customers to take advantage of the snapshotting and data management features that ONTAP is famous for.

This preview release allows you to create Instaclustr PostgreSQL clusters backed by FSx for ONTAP storage, designed to unlock:

  • Higher IOPS and throughput for demanding workloads
  • On-disk compression to reduce storage footprint and costs
  • Our internal testing with PGbench shows impressive results vs. a standard Instaclustr PostgreSQL node:
    • Up to 28% improvement in Transactions Per Second (TPS)
    • 22% reduction in latency

These gains aim to provide faster queries, smoother application performance, and better scalability—without increasing your instance size or adding costly hardware. We will publish a performance testing white paper in the coming weeks.
