Instaclustr is pleased to announce that version 2.0 of OpenSearch and OpenSearch Dashboards are now available in public preview on Instaclustr’s SaaS Platform. This follows swiftly on the heels of the project release of OpenSearch version 2.0 on May 26. Instaclustr’s OpenSearch managed service is based on the truly open source, Apache 2.0 licensed, OpenSearch project.
Since the OpenSearch project reached GA in July 2021, it has been steadily making enhancements. Key features that have been added to OpenSearch and OpenSearch Dashboards in version 2.0 include:
- Upgrading to Lucene 9.1, which is the underlying search library used by OpenSearch.
- Shifting towards inclusive naming, with Master and blacklist/whitelist usages being deprecated in 2.0. Instaclustr has initially reflected these changes in our management console.
- Geolocation improvements in OpenSearch Dashboards to allow updates to Map Tiles more frequently.
- Introducing a circuit breaker in OpenSearch Dashboards to assist with managing resource issues.
- Bumping NodeJS from v14.18.2 to v14.19.1
Since the release by the project on May 26, 2022 Instaclustr has been conducting the necessary testing to release OpenSearch 2.0 in public preview. During this public preview running clusters are not covered by our standard SLAs, nor are recommended for production workloads. Instaclustr will be conducting performance baselining and additional testing to ensure that we can offer industry leading support and mark OpenSearch 2.0 for general availability.
