OpenSearch® versions 2.12 and 1.3.15 now available on the Instaclustr Managed Platform

NetApp is excited to announce the General Availability of two of the latest versions of OpenSearch®2.12 and 1.3.15on the Instaclustr Managed Platform. These newly released versions include a number of exciting improvements, making OpenSearch even more performant and functional.

As always, NetApp makes the latest version available on the Instaclustr Managed Platform to ensure that customers are enjoying the latest improvements that the OpenSearch project has to offer

The headline feature for OpenSearch version 2.12 is the increase in search performance, including:

  • Date histogram aggregations, being transformed and run as range filters, now achieve a 10-50x speed boost when running the nyc_taxis benchmark
  • Multi-term aggregations are now faster, introducing pre-fix and wildcard queries
  • A new field typematch-only textreduces cost while still maintaining term query latency
  • Keyword, numeric, and IP search queries are now faster thanks to performance optimizations
  • k-NN search for nested fields has been simplified, reducing the need for custom processing logic
  • Overall performance increases due to an upgrade to Apache Lucene 9.9

Another big focus of version 2.12 is added Machine Learning (ML) functionality. We will be looking to add a number of these exciting ML features to the Instaclustr Managed Platform in coming months. Keep an eye on our blog for release announcements.

Version 1.3.15 is a quality-of-life update for version 1 of OpenSearch. It includes a series of bug fixes and non-critical security patches. The full release notes can be found here.
