Apache Zeppelin Preview Release

By Ben Slater

We are pumped to announce availability of our preview release of Managed Apache Zeppelin for use with our Managed Cassandra and Apache Spark offerings. Apache Zeppelin provides a notebook user interface to allow interactive development and execution of code against both Cassandra and Spark along with data visualization capabilities.

Running Zeppelin as part of an Instaclustr managed cluster gives you an interactive analytics environment to start querying data in your Cassandra database or running complex analytics using Apache Spark as soon as your cluster is provisioned. It removes the need to install any client side tools or configure network environments to allow direct connection to the underlying Cassandra and Spark services.

Key features of our Apache Zeppelin offering are:

  • automatically installed with the click of a check box along with an Instaclustr Managed Cassandra or Managed Cassandra + Spark cluster;
  • preconfigured connections to the Cassandra and Spark capabilities of your cluster
  • Out of the box sample notebooks demonstrating the basics of connecting to the Cassandra and Spark services in your cluster.
  • All components of the system built with compatible version and tested to work together (any one who’s tried to pull together a set of Spark-related tools know how much work this saves).

There is no additional charge for the use of Zeppelin with our other Managed Service offerings.
