Redwood City, CA — July 13, 2015 — Instaclustr, a high-tech company delivering hosted and managed Apache Cassandra™ services, today announced that the Board has appointed Mr. Peter Nichol as CEO of the company, effective immediately.
Mr. Nichol’s appointment comes after a rigorous recruitment process to find the right candidate as Instaclustr grows and migrates the company’s headquarters to the United States.
Peter previously served as General Manager of Platform Computing, a cluster, grid and cloud management software company that was acquired by IBM in January 2012. He has extensive experience in cloud-based software businesses and has expertise in overall business leadership.
Mr. Nichol is excited about this new challenge and opportunity, “I am impressed with the caliber of the team and the momentum that has been built in such a short period of time. Database as a Service (DBaaS) is really taking off with Cassandra. With the double benefit of lower operating costs and greater application up time, the growth has been impressive. I am excited to bring my experience with building high-growth software companies to Instaclustr.”
Outgoing CEO and foundation investor, Mr. Doug Stuart, was part of the committee tasked with searching for his replacement, “the Board and myself believe that we have found the perfect candidate to take Instaclustr to the next level. Over the past 12 months we have built a solid foundation, with a strong engineering and support capability here in Australia, the time is right to build on our momentum and expand our US presence with our leadership and focus being closer to our largest market.”
Mr. Stuart will now transition to the role of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Australian-based leadership now rests with Mr. Ben Slater, the company Chief Product Office (CPO), who oversees all product engineering, development and support services.
