451 Research: A fresh $15m propels Instaclustr to focus, harden its cloud-based data platform

Report by 451 Research by James Curtis

The company is seeing notable growth in both the quality and quantity of its customers, and with new funding, it will be able to expand its platform capabilities beyond Apache Cassandra. Going forward, its focus will be on Apache Spark, Apache Kafka and the forthcoming release of Elasticsearch.

THE 451 TAKE

Instaclustr continues to grow its business and now has more than 240 customers, including a collection of large enterprises. Among its customers, the company is finding the most success with gaming, financial services, and retail firms. Instaclustr is tightening its focus to include Apache Cassandra, Apache Spark, and Apache Kafka, as well as Elasticsearch, which is forthcoming. While the cloud platform vendors have a plethora of services, Instaclustr is taking the approach of getting its core open source products working well together as part of its data platform. And while it may add other open source products at some point, the company’s current lineup seems to be hitting the right note with its enterprise customers.
