Instaclustr Insights – Liam Anderson

While open source technology is the backbone of who we are, our customers are the lifeblood of our business. We value our customers, and the customer success team is an integral part of building a lasting relationship with customers to provide them with the best possible experience and ensure their continued satisfaction. 

Instaclustr has built a team dedicated to the success of a customer through customer experience and customer outcomes. Meet one of our customer success team members below!

Below are some questions we have asked Liam and the responses are in his own words. 

1. What does your role at Instaclustr entail? 

My job is to ensure our customers achieve their desired outcomes with our products and services and have a positive experience whilst doing so. 

2. What does a typical day look like for you?

I don’t think there is such a thing as a typical day which is what makes the role so interesting. On any given day I could be onboarding new customers, driving customer value and adoption, handling renewals, planning workshops or alignment sessions, conducting internal customer pulse checks, reviewing optics and reporting, or enabling our sales team.

I am also heavily involved in our social club and workplace wellness initiatives which adds another dimension to my day. 

3. How did you first get interested in a technology career? 

 It was less about a career in technology than joining a company with great culture, a good product-market fit, a good reputation, and an opportunity to grow. I don’t come from a background in tech, but I am grateful to have found my way here. Despite the steep learning curve, I find the work rewarding and incredibly interesting.  

4. When did you join Instaclustr—and why? 

I joined in 2019. Logically, Instaclustr had an excellent reputation, good value proposition, and strong growth. Growing companies typically also present good opportunities for career progression and the ability to influence how things are done, which was exciting. In addition to that, and probably the deciding factor for me, I really liked the people and the culture they had created.

5. What’s been your favourite part about Instaclustr since joining? 

It’s hard to single out one thing, so I won’t try.  

  • I love working at a company that is growth focussed and rich with exceptionally intelligent people. It creates an inspiring environment.
  • I also love the social initiatives and workplace flexibility they offer.

6. What makes someone a good fit for tech?

Someone that is curious and with a growth mindset. There is always more than one way things can be done so you can’t be fixed in what you know or believe. Things also change very quickly, so you have to invest in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date.
