Synchronous Mode Strict

Instaclustr managed PostgreSQL clusters support optionally enabling stronger guarantees for commits with synchronous replication. When enabled, this option enforces that all commits must be replicated to at least one standby.

Please note that if this setting is enabled on 2-node clusters, any node becoming unavailable will cause writes to be blocked until both nodes are available again. We therefore recommend that this setting only be enabled on clusters of 3 or more nodes.

This setting is chosen during cluster creation and will default to disabled.

The selection of this mode will affect service level agreements related to availability.
