MCP Gateway Concepts

MCP Virtual Server – An MCP server identified by an HTTP endpoint. Aggregates and exposes MCP tools from configured MCP Backends. Each MCP Virtual Server has independent authentication and authorization configuration. 

MCP Backend – A set of configurable MCP tools that perform operations on a Data Source. 

Data Source – An Instaclustr cluster of supported kind or an HTTP server. 

Persona – End user who will use the MCP servers and tools provided by the MCP Gateway for AI tasks
